Baofeng BF-F9 V2N no-transmit setting
Added by Corey O'Connell almost 3 years ago.

Model affected:
Baofeng BF-F9V2N
I read the instructions above:
Description
Hi I am trying to program my BF-F9V2N but am having issues. On channels which I do not want to transmit on I have set duplex to off however this has not disabled transmitting. All other features are working besides this. When I attempt to transmit on a channel with the duplex set to off it displays that its transmitting and say 666.666 and can not be reset without restarting the radios. Any ideas
Thanks

Then your radio doesn't support that feature. CHIRP can't make a radio do anything that it is not capable of doing.
The way CHIRP tells the the BF-F9V2N (and all other UV-5R like radios) is by not program a TX frequency. In other words, setting Duplex to "off" only disables TX on radios that support that feature.
Use the factory programming software to program a channel. Leave the TX frequency field blank. If TX is disabled on that channel, then setting Duplex to "off" in CHIRP will work as well. However, if TX isn't disabled on that channel, then CHIRP won't be able to disabled it either (and isn't a CHIRP bug).

So how would I go about disabling transmit on this radio if I cant doe it with duplex? Any ideas?

I don't have one. Contact your vendor. But if I had one I would try programming a TX frequency that is out-of-range.

Did Jim's suggestion work?
Again, Chirp cannot make your radio do things it doesn't support.
