Baofeng BF-888S

Windows
Debug Log:
I read the instructions above:

Description

  1. What is the behavior you are seeing? Getting "No response from radio" when trying to clone the radio
  2. What is the behavior you were expecting? Cloning process can be done successfully
  3. Can you reproduce the problem all the time? All the time
  4. What are the steps required to reproduce the problem? Connect the programming cable to PC, connect radio and turn it on, start CHIRP and download from radio.

Recently bought Baofeng BF-888S radio in the package of two. at first i tried using the "original" Baofeng programming radio which is using Prolific driver on windows 10. 1 of the unit no problem, can connect and clone without a problem. but another unit is getting the "No response from radio" error. I am quite baffled since the unit was bought together in one packaging/box, thus most probably manufactured around the same time.

Then I tried using FTDI programming, expecting the prolific driver is the culprit. But no, same issue.

I have attached the log file, but below is the text I have copied from the log. This is my first radio set and first time using CHIRP, thus any help is much appreciated.

Unless you can show that the radio can be programmed with the OEM software, this is most likely a programming cable issue.

Thank you for your response Sir. Yes the unit can be programmed using the supplied baofeng software, BF-480,tested using both the prolific and ftdi cable.
As i said above, i bought a package of two units, the other no problem. Thus i think the cables are not the problem.

According to the debug.log file, CHIRP is getting "No response from radio". Unfortunately, this would indicate some sort of cable issue.

If the problem only shows with one out of two radios, then the issue is likely to be an electrical contact problem (jack not seated well). These radios often exhibit such issues; sometimes it helps to just press in the jack firmly while programming or to hold it at an angle. Sometimes it helps to shave off some of the housing so that the plug can reach deeper.

Dear Sirs, thank you for your response and suggestions. tried but no success. I think I will let this pass and will just use the BF-480 for programming.
